The offer of a free NHS Covid vaccine ends for the majority of people on Friday 30 June.
If you have yet to come forward for a first dose of a vaccine, you are encouraged to do so to protect yourself and others from serious illness.
If you would like to get your jab, this is what you need to know.
Am I eligible for a Covid vaccine?
- Everyone aged 5 (on or before 31 August 2022) and over can get a Covid vaccine.
- Children can only get a dose of a Covid vaccine if they're either:
- At increased risk due to a health condition or because of a weakened immune system.
- Living with someone who has a weakened immune system.
- If you're eligible for a Covid vaccine you can get them now. You do not need to wait to be contacted.
How do I book my appointment?
- You can book an appointment easily online, by calling 119, or by visiting one of the hundreds of walk-in vaccination sites open across the country.
Why is the Covid vaccine offer ending for some people?
- The offer of a Covid vaccine for the majority of people - those at lower risk of severe illness - will end on 30 June 2023, as we move towards a more targeted vaccination offer that prioritises those most at risk.
- This is in line with advice from the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI).
Who can still get a Covid vaccine after the offer ends?
- A seasonal, targeted vaccination offer will remain for people who are most at risk, in line with advice from the JCVI.
- This will ensure those at highest risk are protected and ensure the most efficient use of NHS resources as we reduce backlogs and wait times.
- A spring booster programme is currently available for this group until 30 June.
- If you move into an at-risk group after 30 June, you will be able to get a first or second dose of the Covid vaccine through the seasonal booster programmes.
