Lebanon – Delivery of emergency humanitarian aid by France and Qatar (8 October 2024)

Published: Wed Oct 09 2024

France and Qatar have joined forces to meet Lebanon's humanitarian needs.

Today more than 27 tonnes of medicines, emergency medical equipment and other basic essentials (blankets, hygiene kits) were delivered to Beirut by a plane belonging to the French Ministry for the Armed Forces and a plane belonging to the Qatari Defence Ministry.

These new deliveries follow that of 29 September 2024, which had already made it possible for France to supply nearly 12 tonnes of humanitarian aid to Lebanon. The humanitarian aid delivered will support the provision of clinical care for the wounded and assistance for displaced populations, ensured by the Lebanese Red Cross, the Lebanese health services, several local NGO partners and the French NGO ACTED.

France thanks the European Union for lending its financial support to this second air-freight operation departing from Paris. It also pays tribute to the voluntary organization Tulipe for donating medicines.

France recalls that the protection of civilian populations must be ensured and reaffirms its commitment to a stopping of the escalation in the region.
