Catherine Colonna, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, is visiting Ukraine for the first time today and travelling to Kyiv. The Minister wishes to express France's solidarity with the Ukrainian people and its full determination to bolster its support for Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression, both at humanitarian and financial levels and with regard to defence equipment supplies.
On this occasion, the Minister will honour the war victims, by visiting the martyred city of Bucha, and will deliver civil security equipment (fire engines and ambulances) provided by France to Ukrainian authorities.
Catherine Colonna will meet with her Ukrainian counterpart, Dmytro Kuleba, following their first discussion on 25 May, to talk about France's support for Ukraine in all areas, and focus on the blocking of Ukraine's cereal and oil seed exports, which causes real risks of food insecurity and makes it imperative to find concrete solutions as swiftly as possible to address them. She will also be received by President Zelenskyy.
The Minister will also commend the people working in the embassy in Kyiv, whose exemplary commitment has enabled France to stand with the Ukrainian people and our citizens living in Ukraine since the beginning of the war.
