Q: Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered Russian gas giant Gazprom to increase its gas deliveries to the EU after allocating sufficient reserves for Russia. Do you view that as a positive step? Might it help reduce gas prices and consequently the price of electricity in EU countries?

A: We took note of Russia's announcements, which come at a time of high demand for gas and supply constraints in gas-producing countries.
At the European level, in line with France's request, the 27 EU countries decided to launch a study of the electricity market so that the necessary arrangements could be made to better protect consumers and companies facing price shocks. Discussions at the European Council last week emphasized that the ecological and energy transition must continue and be stepped up, because it too offers a response to recent events and represents part of the solution.
