Bosnia-Herzegovina - Developments in Republika Srpska (10 Mar. 2025)

France is closely monitoring the situation in Bosnia-Herzegovina. Following the verdict handed down against Mr. Milorad Dodik on February 26, France strongly condemns Republika Srpska's recent adoption of laws and decisions that clearly harm Bosnia-Herzegovina's constitutional order and undermine civil liberties.

France reaffirms its support for Bosnia-Herzegovina's national institutions, noting that all concerned actors must ensure that they operate smoothly. We emphasize that the path to Europe for Bosnia-Herzegovina as a whole is contingent upon respecting the rule of law, court decisions, civil liberties and the autonomy of civil society. In this regard, the Constitutional Court's decision to suspend the laws enacted in Republika Srpska on March 5 must be strictly respected.

As a witness to the 1995 Dayton-Paris Peace Accords, France reaffirms its strong commitment to Bosnia-Herzegovina's sovereignty and territorial integrity. We are working to ensure European security and the stability of the Western Balkans.
