Catherine Colonna, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, spoke on the telephone yesterday with her counterpart from the Republic of Costa Rica, Arnoldo André Tinoco.
As the United Nations Ocean Conference is opening in Lisbon, the Minister commended Costa Rica's commitment to protecting biodiversity and tackling climate change, which has made it a model for the world. The two ministers discussed educational and cultural cooperation, active when it comes to Francophonie, as well as the opportunities for the Agence Française de Développement, present in the country since 2019 where it supports the National Decarbonization Plan.
During this first conversation, they reaffirmed their desire for France and Costa Rica to pursue their joint action to address global challenges, promote shared values, particularly democracy, the rule of law and human rights, and address international and regional crises.
The two ministers will see one another in Lisbon at the United Nations Ocean Conference.
